Im a big fan of anime since my younger years and still addicted to it even now. From the old series like Dragonball up to the new ones like Naruto, Bleach and Onepiece---Im still watching it. Everytime I had a research to make I always consult my favorite web-based encyclopedia that gave me access to millions of articles including those that are hard to find. Perhaps one of the most successful and fast growing non-profit community in the internet is Wikipedia. An online encyclopedia that reaches the four corners of the world providing informations to anything you want to know.
Since its creation in 2001, Wikipedia has grown rapidly into one of the largest reference Web sites. It is written collaboratively by 75,000 distributors from all around the world. The English articles alone that was distributed was almost 3,000,000 and it keeps growing everyday! That will take you decades of reading all it's contents. It also had translations for more than 40 languages all over the world to met the demands of those people who are literally not familiar with English language.
To become a contributor of any article, one must be expert on the subject matter that he is going to write. There is no special qualification that Wikipedia staff are looking for to become a contributor. In fact, everyone can join regardless of your race, religion, age or culture as long as you are determined to deliver a very helpful and informative work on specific subject or topic. That's one big reason why this online community was widely accepted and loved by it's readers.
